This month we have 2 fantastic Makers alumni speaking.
Johann, who runs a fintech startup (that’s currently hiring), wants to dispel some of the myths, jargon and BS related to personal finances. He will be teaching us how to be smarter with our money along with highlighting some free tech tools. He’ll then touch on the concept of Financial Wellness (which relates and directly impacts mental and physical wellness) and give a brief update on what he’s working on.
The importance of soft skills for successful developer teams cannot be overestimated. First impressions set the tone for developer relations and the interview is where you make that first impression. Here are a few ways companies got it right and got it wrong; and how you can take control to start things off on the right foot.
Currently open to Makers Alumni only, if you’re not an alum but would like to come along, please email us.
There will be drink (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and food (vegetarian, vegan, and non-vegetarian-vegan!).
Food and drink from 6:30pm. Talks start at 7pm. Pop down the pub at 8:45pm
These are 6-minute talks on any topic of your choice, not necessarily code-related. No prep needed, just put your name on the whiteboard before the event begins.
Currently speaking slots for the next event are first come, first served. Please submit your ideas using the Typeform below. No worries if you haven’t finished the talk or even finalised your topic, just let us know you’re interested.
Talks Night follows the same Code of Conduct as Makers students during their time on the course. Please take the time to have a read of it here: https://makers.tech/code-of-conduct/
